Thank you students!

May 15, 2017

On May 15, members of the Teen Leadership Corps at Bellevue High School (BHS) completed a day of prepping and planting the Community Garden at The Bellevue Hospital (TBH). In its seventh growing season, the garden has yielded over three tons of produce and herbs, all of which has been donated to the Bellevue Fish & Loaves and Clyde Backdoor Food Pantries to help feed local and area families in need.

A total of 26 students at BHS helped fill the raised garden boxes with compost and soil. Along with filling the raised gardens, the kids planted cabbage, radishes, lettuce, spinach and strawberries. In addition, they planted marigolds and helped plant the hospital’s herb garden. Over the next few weeks we will be planting the sweet potatoes, cucumbers and more onions and green beans.

A huge thank you to the members of the Teen Leadership Corps! Their help was greatly appreciated!

TBH is always looking for volunteers to help weed and harvest the gardens to help them maintain health and growth. If you are interested in volunteering, call 419.484.5421 for more information.
