The Bellevue Hospital (TBH) Foundation has made this summer extra memorable for Gerry Hockstok of Dayton, OH, as his name was drawn as the grand prize winner in the Summer 2023 “Is Your Heart Set on a Vette?” Corvette Raffle. The winning ticket was #106. A video of the raffle may be seen below.
Hockstok is the raffle’s first-ever repeat Grand Prize winner, having also won $50,000 in the Foundation’s 2014 “Is Your Heart Set on a Vette?” raffle.
Bellevue Mayor Kevin Strecker and Timothy A. Buit, president and chief executive officer of TBH, had the pleasure of drawing Hockstok’s name randomly out of a barrel containing all 2,023 tickets sold for the raffle. As the grand prize winner, Hockstok has a choice of a brand new 2023 Corvette plus $40,000, or $100,000 in cash.
Four runner-up winners each received cash prizes, including Joseph Holloway, Greensboro, NC, $2,023 (ticket #1517); Michael Sarns, Reading, MI, $1,917 (ticket #538); Michael McNeese, Tullahoma, TN, $1,500 (ticket #797); and Jeanne Jones, Sandusky, OH, $1,000 (ticket #1169).
“We wish to congratulate Gerry and the other four winners,” said Buit. “We kicked-off this raffle the first week of April 2023 and we accomplished our goal of selling all 2,023 tickets by mid-June."
Continued Buit, “The rate in which we sold out of tickets speaks highly of the integrity of this raffle and the ongoing support we had for this event - support that was not only local but reached across several U.S. states. This fundraiser was successful due to the great effort from our Foundation, Accounting Department, Marketing Department, and numerous volunteers who ensured this raffle was run the right way.”
The accounting firm of Cook, Smith & Company, CPA’s, Bellevue, OH, verified that all tickets were properly filled out and placed in the locked barrel prior to the drawing.
Tickets were sold to people in 45 different U.S. states, noted Dennis Sabo, TBH foundation director.
“I would like to personally thank Garrett Steinle of Steinle Chevrolet-Buick in Clyde, as they were the co-sponsor of this event," added Sabo. "Also, thanks to the Fremont Steinle location, the hospital Gift Shop staff, TBH employees and Foundation board members for all the support. We could not have accomplished this project without all their help.”
Due to the growing popularity of the raffle over the last several years, The Bellevue Hospital Foundation now offers two Corvette raffles each calendar year. The next raffle will begin on September 1 and will once again feature a Grand Prize of $100,000 or a new Corvette plus $40,000. Early Bird specials will begin in October with the Grand Prize drawing being held on February 14, 2024 at the Steinle Chevrolet-Buick location in Clyde.
