The Bellevue Hospital Foundation (TBHF) recently presented awards to the top female and male athletes at Bellevue High School (BHS). Formerly known as the Gazette Awards, the trophies have been sponsored and presented by TBHF since 2017.
TBHF Director Dennis Sabo recently presented the trophies to BHS Seniors Brooke Brown and Tyson Baptista after a vote by coaches and administrators at the high school.
Brown earned 11 varsity letters at BHS, four each in volleyball and track and field, and three in basketball. She is the daughter of Laura and B.J. Brown.
Baptista earned eight varsity letters during his time at BHS, four in golf, three in baseball and one in basketball. He is the son of Scott and Aimee Baptista.
“The Bellevue Hospital Foundation is proud to sponsor these trophies,” said Sabo. “The entire Family of The Bellevue Hospital congratulates both Brooke and Tyson for their accomplishments both on the athletic fields and in the classroom. And both of these student-athletes were in the Top 10 of their graduating class!”
Brown will be in the Pre-Occupational Therapy program at the University of Findlay in the Fall, while Baptista will continue his academic career at the University of Toledo where he will major in Chemical Engineering.
The male Gazette Award has been presented annually since 1951, while the female award has been presented since 1976.
